F/A-18 Hornet PowerPC Hack Installer is an application which modifies F/A-18 Hornet to accelerate the game graphics on Power Macintoshes. This improves the game speed and control tremendously. It installs PowerPC code which replaces the existing 680x0 graphics code. This is a “Fat” hack, so the game application will still work on non-Power Macintoshes.
The installer and the hack have been tested are compatible with F/A-18 Hornet versions 1.1.0, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, and 1.1.3b1. The installer is not compatible with Hornet version 1.0 (sorry). Other versions of Hornet may also be compatible, but have not been tested.
Make sure that you only use the installer on a copy of the game application and that you keep a backup of the original.
To use the installer, open it and click the “Install” button. A file selection dialog will appear. Select the game application you wish to modify and click “Open”. That’s it!
NOTE: the installation may take a while…please be patient.

Note that both the installer and the PowerPC code work by using possibly unsupported knowledge about Hornet’s internals. The installer tries to be extra safe and will only work if the things it depends on look okay. If any of these things are different in your version of Hornet the installer will not work and will display a message notifying you of this.
Although I believe the hack and the installer to be safe (I have tested it extensively with several versions of Hornet) I cannot be held responsible for any damage to or loss of information stored in your computer as a result of your use of this hack. Use at your own risk.
